INFORMATION ABOUT SPEAKERS

Kurt EriksenKurt Emil Eriksen
Head of Strategic Projects
Active House Alliance, Denmark

As head of Active House and Strategic Projects at VKR Holding, Mr. Eriksen is involved in a number of Active House demonstration projects around Europe. The projects are individual examples of the “Near to zero energy building” required by the EU Commission from 2020.

Mr. Eriksen has more than 10 years of experience in EU affairs, including being president of EuroACE, an alliance of companies working with energy efficient solutions, and president of the window manufacturer alliance EuroWindoor. He has actively worked with the development of European directives like the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and the Renewable Energy Directive. He has organized several conferences in cooperation with the Commission and other relevant European stakeholders, such as the Active House Symposium during European Sustainable Energy Week. He participated in COP13, 14 and 15 and coordinated a site event on buildings and renewable energy during COP14.

Mr. Eriksen also participated in the development of the Danish energy and climate plans “2030 Energy Plan” and “2050 Carbon neutrality plan” published by the Danish Engineering Association, chairing the buildings and integration of renewable energy sections. The plans outlined a huge energy saving potential and the potential for installation of solar thermal energy in buildings and district heating.

Active House Alliance
Active House Alliance is a network of approximately 30 companies and research institutes around the world. The goal of the Alliance is to create a platform for the development of “Active House: buildings that give more than they take”. The Alliance has developed technical specifications for Active House.
